Vardan Urutyan

Dr. Vardan Urutyan is the Founder and CEO of the Armenian Institute for Digital Agriculture (AI4DA), emerging Center of Excellence in Digital Agriculture, driving innovation, research, and capacity building through smart technologies — including IoT solutions for farmers, farm robotics, precision agriculture, and agritech education for youth. He served as the AgroTwin Team Lead at ICARE Armenia in 2024, developing a digital twin technology for agriculture as an innovative and comprehensive platform for effective in-season crop management, optimization of farm operations, and sustainable food systems. Dr. Urutyan is also the Co-founder of the EVN Wine Academy, an English-language institution producing internationally competitive specialists for Armenia’s growing wine industry, and the Founder of the AgriTech Startup Incubator, the country’s first agritech incubator based at ANAU. Dr. Urutyan was the Rector of the Armenian National Agrarian University (2018–2023), where he initiated radical changes in educational programs, created a student-centered teaching and learning environment, and built around 60 innovative labs, centers, and production-training infrastructures.
